Traineeship: GIZ Indonesia for the Resilience Nature Cluster anchored to FORCLIME Project: Social Forestry (FORCLIME Project)
Job Description
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations on behalf of the German Government. We work to shape a future worth living in over 120 countries around the world.
The FORCLIME project works with the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry on national policy and sector strategies, as well as on the subnational implementation of activities to support local forest management in order to align these strategies with the requirements of emission reduction. The project provides support for the development or adaptation of regulations for forest management reform and the evaluation of environmental services by supporting selected districts in eastern Indonesia in the provinces of Central Sulawesi, Papua, and West Papua in strengthening sustainable forest management. Effective local stakeholder participation is a critical success factor in all planning and strategy development processes.
The FORCLIME project aims to achieve two objectives (1) Climate Mitigation: To significantly reduce GHG emissions from the forestry sector and (2) Livelihood Strengthening: To strengthen local livelihoods without undermining conservation efforts. The latter is achieved through the regulation of ownership and land use rights as part of the social forestry scheme in combination with technical assistance in agroforestry practices. The FORCLIME project collaborates with the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry on national forest policy and sector strategies, as well as on the subnational implementation of activities to support local forest management. At subnational level the project operates in eastern Indonesia in the provinces of Central Sulawesi, Papua, and South West Papua and South Papua.
The FORCLIME Project is therefore recruiting one Indonesian candidate for the following position: Trainee – Social Forestry
