SUMMARY
Winrock International is recruiting an Agriculture, Forestry,
and other Land Use (AFOLU) GHG Modeler for an anticipated project on GHG
accounting for donor-funded agriculture, reforestation, peatland restoration,
and clean energy projects. This position will be based in Jakarta, Indonesia. The
anticipated project will provide reliable and defendable GHG estimates at
project and portfolio levels across a range of renewable energy activities and
agriculture, reforestation and peatland restoration project activities along
with providing technical assistance and training on GHG emissions and
sequestration associated with peatland restoration projects. RESPONSIBILITIESServe as AFOLU
GHG Modeler a GHG accounting program. The
applicant will be expected to: ·        
Serve as key
person for researching and evaluating options for modeling GHG emissions from
agricultural practices, afforestation, and peatland restoration both at large
and small scale·        
Lead the GHG
modeling component of MCA-Indonesia funded projects, including coordinating
work done by renewable energy short term technical staff·        
Lead the research
and selection of the best available, defensible, cost-effective, internationally-tested
and accepted GHG measurement approaches for modeling GHG emissions for each GP
project type·        
Draft a proposed
format for the GHG emissions reduction models, to be approved by MCA-Indonesia·        
Prepare and
contribute to presentations of methods and results·        
Maintain
knowledge of evolving issues in the global climate change and environmental
fields. ·        
Communicate and
work with a wide range of stakeholders in both Bahasa Indonesia and English·        
Preparing written
reports and statistical tables using standard computer programs in the
Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Powerpoint)·        
Coordinate with
project staff and with the U.S. based staff of Winrock’s Ecosystem Services and
Clean Energy and Water groups·        
Other duties as
assigned.  QUALIFICATIONS
AND EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent communication skills, including excellent
    written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience working with AFOLU
    GHG emissions methodology development and accounting
  • Demonstrated successful experience and past performance
    in the accomplishment of AFOLU GHG modeling
  • Solid understanding of climate science and carbon
    accounting and relevant experience working with GHG accounting
    methodologies, GHG modeling, clean energy, and natural resource management
    projects
  • Ability to build and manage Excel-based databases and
    data collection approaches, while interfacing with many stakeholders
  • Excellent computer
    skills, including word-processing, spreadsheets and PowerPoint
  • Experience managing team
    of technical short term staff

 EDUCATIONMaster’s
Degree in Biology, Ecology, Forestry, Environmental Sciences, or a related
