STTA Consultant to support the development of Restoration Program in Kuala Dua, Kubu Raya District

USAID SEGAR is seeking one short-term technical assistant (consultant) to support the development of Restoration Program in Kuala Dua, Kubu Raya District.

USAID SEGAR is a five-year (2021-2026) Activity designed to advance Indonesia’s development objectives in balancing biodiversity conservation and sustainable land use with inclusive economic and livelihoods development. To accomplish this, targeted subnational jurisdictions with high conservation values (HCV) and High Carbon Stocks (HCS) will be supported to improve management of natural resources that measurably conserves biodiversity, decreases greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from unsustainable land use, and promotes sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

Expected Outputs and Outcomes

  1. Commitment from key stakeholders to support restoration activities in Kuala Dua Village gained.
  2. The area for restoration plan in Kuala Dua Village is identified and agreed by representative stakeholders.
  3. Final draft restoration plan in Kuala Dua Village presented to key stakeholders.
  4. Final restoration plan document.

Key Tasks

  • Facilitate an Focused Group Discussion (FGD) to gather input and secure support from stakeholders for the restoration efforts in Kuala Dua village.
  • Identify priority areas for restoration within Kuala Dua village, focusing on degraded lands and critical ecosystems.
  • Develop a comprehensive restoration plan tailored to the specific needs and conditions of Kuala Dua village.
  • Present the restoration plan to key stakeholders to ensure alignment, feedback, and recommendations.
  • Finalize the restoration plan by incorporating stakeholder input and refining strategies for successful implementation.

Deliverables

  1. Consultant detailed workplan (with timeline)
  2. FGD to gain support from stakeholders on restoration in Kuala Dua Village carried out
  3. Summary on targeted restoration area profile and condition.
  4. Map of agreed restoration area in Kuala Dua Village
  5. Draft of Restoration Plan (initial draft)
  6. Presentation material (ppt) on the restoration plan
    Notes on stakeholders’ inputs
  7. Final restoration plan document (clean and with cover page and fine layout) that incorporating stakeholders inputs
  8. Consultant report

Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to natural resource management, such as forestry or environmental and social science.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working on ecology or biology work to ease understanding the environmental condition and type of species that are suitable for restoration in peatland ecosystem.
  • Five years of experience in project planning and its management and prior experience in producing technical reports in similar work.
  • Experience in building close relations within the team and with key stakeholders and involving the local community to gain their participation and leadership in leading the restoration on the ground.
