 Background of the Program

The DFAT-funded Knowledge Partnership Platform (KONEKSI) is Australia’s flagship program in the Indonesia knowledge and innovation sector. KONEKSI’s goal is to achieve an enduring relationship between Indonesia and Australia that advances mutual interest and supports Indonesia’s inclusive and sustainable development. The purpose of the program is to increase the use of knowledge-based solutions for inclusive and sustainable policies and technologies. This purpose positions KONEKSI as a vehicle to produce knowledge on complex socio-economic problems, where effective solutions are often beyond a unique sector or category of stakeholders. Knowledge produced though KONEKSI will feed into current GoA supported initiatives in Indonesia and /or will reflect new emerging agendas / priorities that become relevant for the bilateral cooperation in the years to come. It will support both the knowledge to policy cycle (K2P) and the knowledge to innovation cycle (K2I), in a complementary and synergistic way. KONEKSI will focus on two End of Investment Outcomes (EOIOs):

  • Australian and   Indonesian   organizations have increased   collaboration and mutual understanding through knowledge partnerships; and
  • Innovative solutions for inclusive and sustainable policies and technologies are generated by knowledge

Summary of Position:

The Officer will support the delivery of KONEKSI activities in Eastern Indonesia, focusing on reducing inequality in opportunities for international collaboration. The officer will work closely with the KONEKSI Partnerships unit to foster new and strengthen existing partnerships with Australian research organizations. The position sits in the Partnerships team and is expected to work closely with all KONEKSI work units. This position is to be based in Makassar.

Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the GEDSI Manager and under the leadership of the Head of Technical Delivery, Partnerships and GEDSI, the Officer will be responsible for:

Activity Management:

  • Support the alignment of KONEKSI projects with the goals of addressing inequality in international collaboration opportunities.
  • Support the implementation of KONEKSI activities in the region.
  • Act as a point of contact for KONEKSI in Eastern Indonesia to respond to enquiries about KONEKSI.

Research Training Implementation:

  • Organize and facilitate specific research training programs tailored to the needs of local institutions.
  • Support the evaluation of the effectiveness of training programs and adjust content based on feedbacks.

Field Visits Coordination:

  • Organize field visits for the Australian Embassy and the Indonesian government to KONEKSI projects.
  • Support the development of briefing materials and provide on-site support during visits.
  • Coordinate visits of Australian research delegations to Eastern Indonesia and Australia.
  • Arrange logistics, meetings, and engagements to maximize the impact of these delegations.

Develop and Deepen Partnerships:

  • Support KONEKSI to cultivate and expand relationships between research organizations in Eastern Indonesia and
  • Engage with key stakeholders to follow up on collaborative

Promotion and Advocacy:

  • Promote KONEKSI initiatives in collaboration with the Australian Consulate and other DFAT programs.
  • Together with the KONEKSI communications and Partnerships units, support strategies to raise awareness and visibility of KONEKSI activities,

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Regularly report on the progress and outcomes of partner activities to KONEKSI.
  • Document best practices, lessons learned, and case studies to inform future projects.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Advanced degree in International Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in international development, particularly in managing international research collaborations and familiarity with Eastern Indonesia.
  • Proven experience in project management and stakeholder engagement in a similar context.
  • Experience working in or with Indonesia and/or Australia is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of the complexities of international research collaboration and development.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in developing and managing training programs.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to GEDSI principle.
